Classes are taught in a simple and structured manner so that EVERYONE can participate, learn and see the results! What to expect! As a class we formally bow in to the Instructor and begin the group warm up, consisting of light calisthenics and stretching. Thereafter we go into technique explanation, demonstration and light drilling. We finish the session with a specific training that pertains to the lesson of the day.
You will learn the basics in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which include self-defense, ground-work, body control, take-downs and throws. During this time, you will gradually build up your endurance, flexibility, core strength, hip movement, self-confidence and most importantly, your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills!
Students must have a minimum of 3 stripes (typically four months of experience) on their white belt in order to be eligible for Advanced classes. We recommend that students stay in Fundamentals until they reach their own personal development in preparation for Advanced Classes.
In conjunction with advanced ground techniques, students will begin to understand and apply the transitions and combinations amongst techniques. During this time, students will begin to discover their strengths and weaknesses and form a specific style/game, suitable for their body type and ability.
Students must have a minimum of 3 stripes (typically four months of experience) on their white belt in order to be eligible for Advanced classes. This class will be the fastest pace because without the Gi, you will have less ability to grip and control the pace of the movement. Students should begin this class when they have built up their stamina and refined their technique. There is no timeline to personal achievements, so take your time and you will get there!
The striking class will emphasize punching and kicking combinations along with take-downs and transitional techniques from standing to ground or vice versa.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a very effective self-defense for women because the entire principle of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu relies on the use of leverage. Therefore, you can be a much smaller individual and still overcome an opponent much larger and stronger. You will be learning exciting new techniques on a weekly basis and more importantly, the techniques are practical in a real life self defense scenario. The class also happens to be an excellent alternative to traditional exercise; you can have fun while getting in shape!
